Abigail

It had taken all of Abigail’s self-control not to turn around and look at Dalton when they walked down the forest track together. She couldn’t believe that the hottest guy in the world was strolling along naked behind her. It was all very surreal. And they were talking. Not bickering, for once, but having a conversation, where she was telling him something important about her life, and he was acting like he cared. And he no longer seemed mad about the bear spray, but she still felt guilty about it. She wanted to make it up to him.

He got dressed, and when she turned around, he looked like the usual Dalton, like he was just about to break into one of his easy-going smiles.

He frowned. “Are you okay?”

She took a deep breath. “Yes, but I still feel bad about the bear spray.”

He shrugged. “Well in that case, you can make it up to me by taking me out to dinner tonight.”

Her breath caught in her throat. “Okay. Deal,” she found herself saying.

The surprise on Dalton’s face made her glad she’d agreed. “Shall we meet in the foyer around seven?”

“Perfect. See you then.”
